Joining the Conversation on Emerging Choreographic Talent in Ballet at Théâtre de la Ville
FEDORA's Activities
Our Director Edilia Gänz will take part in this discussion alongside Noemie Coin, choreographer, Lucile Goupillon, dance researcher and specialist in the work of William Forsythe, and Sophie Laplane, choreographer, to share perspectives on the challenges faced by emerging artists and the collaborative solutions that can support the next generation of choreographic talent.
During the roundtable, Edilia Gänz will address the specific difficulties faced by emerging choreographers in ballet across Europe, from limited access to production resources to the challenges of securing institutional support at the earliest stages of creation. These barriers often make it difficult for new choreographic voices to develop ambitious projects and establish sustainable careers.
She will also present the solutions we have developed through the FEDORA Prizes, designed to support innovation at a decisive stage in a project’s life cycle: production. By providing support before a work reaches the stage, we help offer the resources, visibility, and momentum artists need to transform creative ideas into reality.
A key focus of her intervention will be the impact of the FEDORA Prizes on artistic careers, and the unique role this support plays in the performing arts ecosystem. By positioning our support upstream of creation, we help bridge an important gap, enabling emerging choreographers to take creative risks and gain recognition at a crucial moment in their development.
She will also highlight the importance of European cooperation and co-production in fostering artistic emergence. By encouraging partnerships across borders, we help create meaningful opportunities for young artists while strengthening innovation and sustainability in the performing arts sector.
Through this participation, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting the next generation of choreographic voices and to helping build a European cultural landscape where emerging talent in the performing arts can flourish.
